Board of
Governor member Ken Griffey Jr. was recently appointed as an
American public diplomacy envoy by Secretary of State
Condoleezza Rice. The former Chicago White Sox
outfielder will talk to young people in other countries
about the values of the United States. His first
official trip will be in January when he travels to
Panama.
As an
American public diplomacy
envoy,
Griffey joins baseball's Cal Ripkin Jr.,
figure skater Michelle Kwan
and actress Fran Drescher.
